painting  gallery...

I have been painting for over a year now.

I've been working with a multitude of extremely talented artists for about 4 years

& have drawn inspiration from each of them in my own way.
I decided to stop repressing the desire to put brush to canvas & to journey down another road.
I find the process of creating with paint to be quite the opposite of creating with a lens.

With painting there is not the same "translation" as there is in photography.

The energy & the progression have to come completely through the artist.
The process of this body of work has been very therapeutic & very self-revealing

as I continue to grow both as an artist

and as a person.

“Mahina”

Mahina is Hawaiian for “of the moon”

This is a paintings depicting

that moment of the evening when some people come forth

under the soft light of the moon, away from the harsh light of the sun.

Straying from their usual introverted confinement

and offering us a glimpse of who they are.

“Forgiven”

“Forgiven” is an image of your worst enemy, in a different light.

It could be whoever you want it to be. He is holding his head apologetically.

His heart is burning for forgiveness yet it is bound by our hatred.

The blood is representative of the blood spilled by Christ to forgive us all.

It’s there to show that we are all worthy and at times need forgiveness.

We could all be somebody’s worst enemy, or best friend.

The key is that until we learn to let go and forgive even our worst enemy

(which at times may even be ourselves) we can not begin to heal and move forward.

As long as we harbor hatred and anger in our hearts

we are bound to repeat the cycles that keep us from reaching our true  potential.

"Birth of the Starswallower"

The dream is nurtured within the womb where hope nests

The vision articulated through transcendent thought

The universe is omnipresent and naught

On her whim or mine

Nothing is blacker when she closes her eyes

When she closes her mouth

When she swallows the stars

-         Or I turn my back upon them
